Living on the island has become easier now that we kinda know what we are doing, Me and Ralph and Simon make and fix the shelters and make sure the signal fire doesn't go out even though Jack and his group should be the ones doing it. It gets super hot during the middle of the day when the sun comes all the way up. Sometimes when I look out to the water I'll see things but I know they aren't real, It's just the sun playing dirty tricks. The littluns have been really scared recently because of the Beastie that is out in the jungle. It might be just their imaginations because Jack and them go out all the time and have never found no Beastie.
Everything got really intense though today when me and Ralph saw a boat all the way out in the water and the signal fire was out because Jack and them were out hunting and not doing their job. When we went to go look for them they were coming back singing and they had a pig on a stick, they finally got it but we didn't NEED the pig we needed the signal fire to be lit. Ralph tried telling them but nobody was listening so i started to try an tell'em. When I finally got Jack's attention he smacked me and broke my glasses and made fun of the way I talk. I was too busy trying to get my glasses all fixed to hear what Ralph and Jack were talking about but they were real loud so it must have been serious. It wasn't until after that me and Ralph went to relight the signal fire. a bit ago the boys cooked up the pig and wouldn't let me have any because I didn't hunt but Ralph didn't hunt either and so didn't some of the other boys too! Ralph has just called a meeting so I guess that's where I am going.
Piggy really goes through a lot in this chapter, so do the other boys too though. Piggy is kind of the background character for this chapter but still has some really key things going on. For instance he figures out what they are seeing out in the water are illusions caused by the sun while other boys are freaking out because they are hallucinating. My connecting for the last two posts has been that Piggy and I think a lot alike and that doesn't seem to be changing soon. He figures out about the hallucinations, calls out Jack for being a dick-wad and just understands what needs to be done instead of being a useless person like almost everyone else. He gets beat on a little this chapter which is sad and upsetting also considering that nothing is really done about that. But ultimately my connection remains the same; Me and Piggy think the same.

Chapter 1
So here I am stuck with all the other boys when I wanted to go and help get food with Ralph. Taking names isn't so bad I guess, I get to meet all of the other boys and stuff. This whole trip has been real bad, first we get on that there plane and I'm stuck between Tom and Steven who made fun of me the whole time calling me 'Piggy' and putting stuff in my face when I tried to nap. And then we hear the pilot talking about atom bombs and then we end up here! Waking up in the thorns was awful and for a moment I thought I might have been alone until I saw Ralph that is! I followed him some ways trying to talk and not be lonely like before but he just ran around naked for some reason. It wasn't until I found that conch that he showed some interest in what I had to say and when he blew it man did it make a loud sound just like I knew it would. All the boys from the other parts of the flight heard and came along so we could have a meeting!
At the meeting we met everyone that had lived through the plane and we met that Merridew kid, the leader of the choir with the creepy black cloaks and hats. He was mean sounding the way he ordered everyone else to stop and stuff. And then he tells us he should be a chief of all us boys but someone had a smart idea and said to vote. Everyone that wasn't in the choir voted for Ralph, I didn't really want to because he told everyone what they use to call me when I asked him not to but I kinda knew he would be a better chief than Jack would. Jack got mad and you could tell so Ralph made him a hunter and they decided to go off, I wanted to like I said but they wouldn't let me because I have to take names. I haven't seen any of the boys from my old school here, I guess they didn't live through the plane then.
I can personally relate to Piggy in a sense, not that he was picked on or left behind in hunting but in the way that he knows what they need to do right off of the bat to survive. His first ideas are to get everyone together, take names and have a meeting. That's the first thing you would want to do is look for survivors so you have a bigger chance at surviving until rescue. He is kind and gentle throughout the story and has THE BEST ideas throughout as well. He will routinely talk to everyone and say how they need to have rules and be grown up for them to survive this, which he is 100% correct! I know that would be me if I were in his shoes, I don't care about running around and being naked I want to prepare to survive and hold out for as long as I can. Golding did good in having a character like this but it's a shame that he was also correct in that no one listens to him because they are so young. It's a shame.
“I expect we’ll want to know all their names, ”said the fat boy, “and
make a list. We ought to have a meeting.” pg.11 Bam. One of the first things said in the book is one of the best things said in the book. Most of the brilliant ideas come from Piggy. Some of the other things he says is that others probably survived and that they should look for them and gather everyone up. It's a shame that no one really ever listens to Piggy and that he ideas for the most part go to waste or he never gets credit for them.
